What do I need to study?

You have two options

1. E mail studies this is for those who may not have access to the Intenet but who have access to email facilities.
2. Correspondence studies - paper based studies where individuals have no email or internet access or where it is very costly (overseas etc).

Whichever method you choose you will be given the same level of support with both a personal mentor and expert tutor available to take care of your every need. All you need is the enthusiasm and drive to succeed.

We also provide a full service ensuring that your enrolment runs smoothly and we take care of any membership issues with Institutes on your behalf. It could not be easier.

Once payment has been received in whatever format you have chosen to pay (again for details on payment schemes contact Alison on 0191 373 4847) then your access or study materials will be provided to you.

Planning your studies

Everything is taken care of for you your personal mentor will contact you to confirm your chosen study method and to explain what happens next and when you will receive your start up pack. Your start up pack includes everything that you need, additional reading lists, contact information and details of all of the support Mechanisms available to you.

You will also be contacted to discuss the study plan that you wish to engage upon. In other words you develop with your mentor the Pace of study that you wish to achieve. This can be changed via discussion with your personal mentor at any time.

Once your study plan is in place you will then be guided through the early part of your studies until you are happy that you have everything you need.

Your expert tutor and personal mentor are always at hand should you require any further support. Many students over the years have commented about how well supported DLC programmes are that is why we are regarded as offering the highest level of support.

Starting your studies

All of the courses have written materials and many interactive tasks for the work place however if your not working don’t worry everything has an academic route as well as a more practical work based route. Assignments are submitted as per the materials, you simply follow the study process that is easy to follow and built into every course. Any problems then your mentor and expert tutor are close at hand.

When you come to a task or assignment then you simply give it your best shot submit it to your expert tutor for marking and feedback. You will receive detailed feedback on the work submitted and you can either continue with your studies or add or retry certain elements of the task.

Ongoing studies

Now you are in the study loop you simply continue your studies on this basis keeping an eye on your study plan. The variation in study materials, topics and tasks will help to keep you challenged in a range of ways.

You will receive regular pro active contact from your personal mentor just to see how you are getting on. If you fall behind then your mentor will be in touch to offer support and assistance and in most cases to re evaluate your study plan.

Your mentor is an expert in study methods and in dealing with the vast array of issues that you may have whether study or work related.

A high degree of flexibility is available with in certain key limits as maximum study periods do apply but these offer a great deal of flexibility.

Your expert tutor is feeding back to you on all work submitted ensuring you receive the maximum growth and development from the materials and topics of study but also ensuring you receive maximum benefit from the hands on industrial expertise that your tutor has.

Achieving your qualification

Some courses have end exams, some have end assignments and some have end projects. Some have a combination of them all.

If your course requires an examination to be sat then again your personal mentor will be in touch to help you to assess whether or not you are ready with your tutor. All preparations including sitting of mock exam papers will be facilitated by your tutor and personal mentor ensuring you are given the maximum preparation for a successful outcome.

Examinations will be arranged for you locally where possible or in your work place where we are allowed to do so.

For overseas students the British council along with a range of other partners overseas will facilitate examinations for you. We will arrange exams for you no matter where you are sitting them anywhere in the UK or wider world.
